Kaleb and Jean are engaged!

Sometimes things don't go exactly as planned and sometimes when that happens our plan C becomes even better than any of our other plans ever could have been. When Kaleb first contacted me, I was so excited to tell his story. It was obvious from the nerves in his voice that Jean was special and he really wanted his proposal to be perfect. I am so thankful I was able to be a part of this story. Although, it was not plan A it was an incredible moment I will never forget as photographer. Here is a bit more in their words. I hope you enjoy their story as much as I do. 

We got engaged in Port Crescent state park. This park is really special to us. The days we would spend together we would be up here at the lake canoeing, hiking and swimming in the beach.  This particular location is also special to us because it provides a wonderful view of the sunset on a 50 foot sand dune. This spot is where we first held hands while the sun was setting. It was one of our first adventures that began our romantic relationship. 
Sept. 16, 2016 we came back to that spot for a picnic, hammocking and to watch the sunset together. A spot that was special to us before became a new momentous romantic memory that will continue with a lifetime of adventures.

Holly and Taylor's wedding on the beach.

This was the first wedding I've ever shot while bare foot. 

It was so much fun spending time with Holy and Taylor and their families for a few days in Florida. Their wedding day was relaxed and fun. Taylor spent the day on the beach with his friends as Holly spent the day going over last minute details and having some fun with Henna tattoos. I love that they were able to see each other throughout the day. Some of my favorite moments were the few minutes here and there that they were able to be together and be excited together. 

The ceremony was a pop-up wedding set up in a few minutes with sand under our feet, the sounds of large waving crashing, and the pier in the background. It was almost surreal. I love that Holly and Taylor decided to get married in an intimate setting with their friends and family with as little stress as possible. In a few months, they will be celebrating with a lot more friends and family and I can't wait to be there as well!

Seth and Jen's wedding ripped straight out of the 20's cannot be described in words. So I will leave you to the photos. I cannot tell you how much we love this story or these people.

Amanda and Baby

We procrastinated a bit but I'm pretty sure Amanda would have killed me if I didn't take any photos of her and our baby before he says hello to the world. I love this woman and she is going to be the greatest Mom in the world. I can't wait to meet out little guy. It's only a matter of days now. Our cat Eva is pretty excited as well!

I survived Kadi and Fred's Wedding!

At the reception Kadi and Fred gave out mason jars that said, "I survived Kadi and Fred's wedding." This phrase definitely rang true as Mt. Pleasant was hit with a huge snow storm the day of their wedding. The city was hit with several inches of snow and rain throughout the day making the roads really difficult to drive on. Almost everyone who attended the wedding were trapped in the city which meant the party never stopped!

Their day began in the beautiful Broadway Theatre and ended in a bowling alley. The day was fun from the moment Sophie and I arrived. Kadi got ready in a dressing room filled with hundreds of old costumes. While Fred got ready underneath the stage of the theatre, My guess is that both of these places could tell some interesting stories. After a brief ceremony, everyone braved the roads and made their way to the bowling alley at the Riverwood resort. But this is no ordinary bowling alley. Dueling pianos led the dancing all night long as many people bowled until their arms were sore. Sophie and I were stranded in the city like everyone else. And we weren't the least bit disappointed about being able to join in on the fun!

Erik and Sarah

Erik and Sarah met while in college. Sarah lived in Florida so every holiday she needed a ride to the airport. Sarah met Eric through his brother. They became friends and overtime when Sarah needed a ride to the airport in order to visit her family on the holidays, Erik would jump at the chance to be the one to take her. And those rides were where they realized that this friendship could be more.

On one particular ride, the song Everlong by the Foo Fighters, came on the radio. They now consider this to be their song. Because of these rides and multiple other stories involving this airport, this place means a lot to them. When they told me their story. I thought "What better place to tell your story!"

I had a lot of fun exploring the Detroit metro airport with Erik and Sarah and getting to know them.

Luke and Stacie

Sophie and I met Luke and Stacey Ironically while shooting Alex and Mackenzie's wedding. As we sat down to quickly eat our dinner, I heard a voice form across the table ask me a question. And then another. And then another. And I loved every second of it! Stacie had a curiosity and a passion for photography so we talked for several minutes about what Sophie and I do and why we do it. We then found out that Stacie was the girlfriend of Luke. 

Now, that name may not ring a bell but if you ever checked out Alex and Mackezie's wedding story you saw some of Luke's incredible photos taken with his drone.  

We eventually had the opportunity to chat with Luke and Stacie throughout the night and I informed them that they were not allowed to hire any other photographer when they got married. Which was a little awkward because they were not even engaged yet! Well, now they are. And we were so pumped when they obeyed our instructions and called us to be a part of their story. 

I love spending time with these two. They are compassionate, loving people and they love to have fun! We spent a couple of hours exploring the Ledges of Grand Ledge. Before heading to Qdoba, the place where their story started. I can't wait for their wedding next summer!
